The Capitol Hunger Games
Tara blinked the tears out of her eyes as she stared at all of the surrounding tributes. No crying. She only had 60 seconds to pull herself together and know where she wanted to go. She took in her surroundings. Woods all around, so she guessed it wouldn’t really matter which way she went. She saw an axe. That was hers, right next to a bag full of who knew what. Tara knew she was good with an axe from training, her and two other tributes- Clarisse and Ian- had gotten the highest score of seven. Pretty good for Capitol freaks.
All of the tributes knew each other from all of the socializing before training started, so killing the others would be quite hard to do.
The gong rang. Tara did not lose a second getting her axe and bag and getting out of there. She didn’t make one Cornucopia kill. An arrow whizzed past her ear and she looked to see Ian holding the weapon. He obviously was aiming for Stephanie, who was behind her, and the arrow found its mark. Stephanie went down. As Tara looked around she saw fighting. Aaricia was taken out by Zinnio, Elio by Cory. Tara stopped watching her friends die and turned into the woods.
She put down her axe and pulled her bag in front of her after about an hour. She spilled out the contents and was surprised at what she saw. She had three water bottles, one full and two empty. She allowed herself to drink from the full one before filling her bag back up. It felt a lot heavier than three water bottles. She grabbed her axe and just sat for the rest of the day.
There were 8 faces in the sky on the first night, and 8 cannons had fired. The dead: Stephanie, Aaricia, Elio, Richard, Jess, Whitney, Jennifer, and Nigel. Tara was unsettled at the thought that she could be next. She went through the living- Clarisse, Ian, Amber, Yvette, Cory, Landon, Zinnio, Magick, Chanel, Mitch, Bill, Andrew, Alice, Bradley, Claire, and herself. Sixteen left, including herself.
Tara must have fallen asleep, because she woke up in daylight to snapping twigs and groans. She was on full alert, ready to kill whoever it was. Tara made her way only a few feet when she glimpsed Chanel. This did not look right though. Chanel had a nice big gash in her leg, probably from the Cornucopia, and was limping badly, not caring about the blood she left behind her. Tara decided it was time to put the poor girl out of her misery.
Chanel didn’t move to escape as Tara ran up to behead her. But Tara received a surprise when a knife entered Chanel’s stomach and an arrow hit her in the chest as her axe hit. She whipped around, looking for the other attackers. She saw a shadow emerge to form into Ian. A knife sailed past Ian’s ear and his loaded bow pointed in the direction it came from.
“Come out!” he shouted. “Or I’ll shoot!”
“Oh shut up, you couldn’t hit me if I was standing still.” It was a girl’s voice. Tara couldn’t put her finger on which tribute it was.
It was Clarisse that stepped out of the trees with a smirk on her face and a knife in her hand. Tara was absolutely shocked that all three of the highest scoring tributes would meet up trying to kill the same person. Speaking of Chanel, her cannon fired just as Clarisse came out.
“Okay, you all have the same idea as me, right?” asked Ian. “We’re highest scoring, and there was a reason we were. Think like Careers. The strongest stay together until the end. It will be us in the final three, and nobody else. Then we fight to see which one of us is the absolute strongest of the Capitol tributes.”
Clarisse was in practically before Ian even finished speaking. Tara really had no choice, because if she refused they would kill her on the spot. So the “Careers” were together now. Fifteen left.
Over the next few days, the alliance found various fire remains, sometimes still hot. They were on the trail of a tribute- or tributes. Finally, they saw the fire going strong and a body silhouetted against it. Clarisse called this kill, but they all went just in case something went wrong. Tara recognized Mitch as they got closer and actually wanted to perform this kill. Mitch was obnoxious at training, and a complete show off. He managed a six in the end. Clarisse slit his throat easily and they waited for the cannon to fire. It only took a couple of seconds and the alliance moved on, only fourteen left.
The next morning they all woke to a cannon firing. The birds all stopped singing in their area, so the hovercraft was close. They rushed to where they could now see the hovercraft materializing and got a look at the body before it went in. It was Yvette. She was unscathed, so it was either dehydration or hunger that did her in. Thirteen.
Yvette’s death really snapped the alliance’s situation back into perspective. This WASN’T a free for all killing spree, they still had to survive. Ian could hit animals with his arrows, but they needed water really soon. Tara had run out the day before.
Tara was fine when Ian woke her up, but traveling soon made her dizzy. She gritted her teeth and pressed on. Good thing she did because they came upon a small pool. As Tara filled all of the bottles she heard branches snapping. She closed the caps and readied her axe. Clarisse and Ian were ready too. She burst out of the woods and ran straight past them with no weapons. It was Amber. Bill was right behind her and Clarisse’s knife buried itself into his side. He fell over and his sword dropped from his hand. Clarisse ran up to him and removed the knife. He moaned, so she stabbed him again, ensuring his death. His cannon fired and Clarisse came back.
Amber was still in sight. The trio started to run towards her, and they were quite close when Cory jumped out of the shadows and clothes lined her. He dragged her by the hair and smashed her head against a tree. Tara could tell she was gone by the blood she had lost already, and what was more to come.
Tara chased after Cory alone, but it was difficult to catch up. He probably got that five for speed. She outdistanced him though, and brought her axe straight up his spinal cord. His cannon fired right away, and on her way back to her alliance, Tara heard Amber’s cannon. Only ten left.
“The Gamemakers haven’t sent anything our way yet,” observed Clarisse.
“Well, we have been close to tributes for this whole game,” answered Tara. The alliance was having a conversation about what the possibilities of the first trick could be when two people came running by. Alice and Zinnio. Alice had a spear and was in throwing motion when Ian’s arrow entered her neck. She was close enough to Zinnio that the spear hit him, and he went down too. Alice’s cannon fired, and before Zinnio could escape Clarisse finished him off. Two more out, eight left to play. Zinnio’s cannon fired.
(Not included with alliance)
Claire was making her way through the woods when she was jumped. Landon had her by the throat. He was much bigger than her, and she soon stopped struggling and gave up. Claire’s cannon fired and Landon let go.
Andrew snuck up behind Bradley, and made his first kill of the Games. His sword cut through the boy easily, but this was not Andrew’s game. He felt so horrible he used the rope he had grabbed from the Cornucopia to hang himself.
When the two cannons fired Magick felt like she could win for the first time. She crept up on Landon, but he heard her. She pulled out her dagger and the fight began. Magick came out on top, but she quickly hid away when she heard the voices of the alliance. Final four, baby. She was ready to win. Her attack would begin at sundown....
(Back to alliance)
“Only four of us left. God knows where Magick is,” said Tara. “Looks like our plan will work, if we can get Magick. She only got a four in training, but she made it this far.” Conversation about where the other girl could be went on until they could not keep their eyes open. Tara was just falling asleep when she heard Ian grunt. When she looked over to tell him to shut up, she saw Magick standing over him, pulling out her dagger. Magick was mangled just like that. In just a few seconds Tara had destroyed her face. Magick’s cannon fired. Ian had some final words.
“My plan worked. We’re the final three. But since I’m dying, I’m obviously not the strongest of us. Fight it out to see, final two. Ian’s cannon fired during the fight. In the end, Clarisse stabbed Tara in the shoulder, and Tara gave up. She threw her axe up in the air and started crying. She held the knife in her shoulder where it was and looked up only when the cannon fired and the trumpets blared. She looked down at Clarisse’s body on the ground, the axe that was thrown up lodged in her throat.
“CONGRATULATIONS TARA! YOU ARE THE WINNER OF THE CAPITOL HUNGER GAMES!” boomed the voice of Claudius Templesmith. Tara had won. Somehow, some way, she had won...

BSHFF2's creative epicness youknowyou'rejealouslol Empty Re: BSHFF2's creative epicness youknowyou'rejealouslol

Post  BSHFF2_NOX Fri Nov 30, 2012 9:46 pm

I MADE ANOTHER ONE!!!
Desert. Desert all around. Tiago was already sweating. He spotted Zoe, his partner from District 4. She nodded at him.
Claudius Templesmith’s voice rang out over the arena. “Ladies and gentlemen, let the thirty-second Hunger Games begin!” Tiago looked at the sand all around him. He thought he saw a tree but he couldn’t tell. The Cornucopia was the same as every year: Weapons and good supplies near the middle, and the not-so-valuable stuff near the edge.
Abigail from District 12 was to his left, Brianna from 8 to his right. Joey from District 1 was the closest Career to him, only four tributes away. Joey suddenly looked at Tiago, and then flashed him a smile. This was no place for the tributes from District 4. Tiago and Zoe had already decided not to team up with the Careers; they were way too snooty. They had made the other Careers think that they would be aligned together, so that they wouldn`t be the first targets. Tiago wondered if that had been a good idea. District 4 was at a huge disadvantage here, with no water in sight.
Tiago was snapped out of his thoughts by the gong. It was much louder in person than on television. The sea of tributes surged forward. Tiago picked up a large bo staff and immediately smashed the closest tribute`s head in. It was Dania from District 7. She cried out then hit the ground. Tiago ran to the Cornucopia, and picked up a large backpack. Lucas from 5 was grappling with Tyra from 10 for a brown bag. Tiago whacked Lucas in the face and watched him fall to the ground, dead. Tyra ran before Tiago could get her. The tributes were slowly leaving. Or dying. Maverick sent a sword through Abigail`s head. Damien snapped Freddie from 11`s neck. Ike from 6 was taken out by Ella from 2`s dagger. Zoe was finishing off Opal from 3. Tiago was jumped from behind. He fell to the ground with a grunt. He elbowed his attacker in the face, and shook him off. It was Cody from 12. Tiago brought his bo down on his stomach, then stood up and hit him in the face. Tiago brushed the sand off of his clothes and turned to see who was still at the Cornucopia. Everyone was gone but the other Careers. Nine or ten bodies were littered around the Cornucopia.
The Careers all gathered and had just started taking inventory when the cannons started firing. Ten people had been killed in the bloodbath. Tiago thought that there could`ve been more, but ten was satisfactory.
Maverick was the first to speak. “Have any of you found water?” Now that Tiago thinks of it, he hadn’t found any water. In this arena, water would be extra vital. He hadn’t found any, which didn’t surprise him, but when everyone else said no, he was shocked. No water at the Cornucopia? That was unheard of! He guessed that they’d have to make do with what they had, and find water later. Not that he and Zoe were sticking around very long anyway.
When night came, everyone looked up for the anthem and the fallen tributes. Opal from 3 was first, followed by Cheri and Lucas from 5, Ike from 6, Dania from 7, Brianna and Cole from 8, Freddie from 11, and Abigail and Cody from 12. Ten dead. Ten tributes out of the way.
A look from Zoe reminded him of their plan. “I’ll take first watch, anyone want to join me?” Tiago asked.
“I will,” said Ella. She grabbed a cruel looking axe and a few throwing knives and plunked herself down on the ground. Tiago grabbed a dagger and a spear to add to his bo. Maverick, who had become a leader of sorts, seemed satisfied and sat down. The rest of the Careers followed her lead and lay down. Most were asleep within minutes, but Tiago knew Zoe wasn’t. He decided to wait about an hour or so, then put the rest of the plan into action. It was about fifteen minutes of waiting when a cannon fired. Everyone bolted upright, weapons at the ready.
“Just another tribute, guys. Don’t worry.” Ella assured them. They all went back to sleep, except for, of course, Zoe.
When Tiago couldn’t wait any longer, he picked up his dagger and slit Ella’s throat. She was dead before she could make a sound. Zoe and Tiago booked it out of there, and were running when Ella’s cannon fired. Tiago heard the Careers shouting at each other, trying to figure out what happened.
Zoe looked back. “Tiago go faster, they’re coming!” she wheezed. Tiago looked back, and sure enough, the Careers were in pursuit, Maverick in the lead. They were gaining. Tiago ran and ran, but the Careers wouldn’t give up. They were getting closer than ever. Almost close enough to be within killing range. Tiago was about ready to throw his spear when a girl screamed from very close by. Way too close. They should’ve seen her by now.
Zoe shouted something unintelligible.
“What?” shouted Tiago.
“Sandstorm!” she screamed. Sure enough, a sandstorm was visible about fifty feet away. “That’s where the girl screamed from!” yelled Zoe. A cannon fired and the sandstorm died down. A body lay in the area the sandstorm was in, and another tribute was on his hands and knees, coughing.
The Careers were relentless, gaining on every step. Zoe and Tiago were driven closer to the body and the boy. The hovercraft must be waiting until everyone’s cleared out to pick her up. Tiago thought. Tiago and Zoe were very close to the boy who survived the sandstorm, who Tiago now realized was Leo from 10. The body was Holly from District 6. He could tell from the red hair.
Zoe sighed. She grabbed a throwing knife from her belt and threw it at Leo. She barely missed. He turned around and started pleading for his life. Zoe’s second knife found its mark. Leo’s cannon fired.
The Careers finally allowed Tiago and Zoe a breather. They walked through the night. Tiago and Zoe were growing extremely tired; they hadn’t had any sleep since the Games started. Tiago was almost asleep on his feet when yelling brought him back to his senses.
The Careers were arguing. Maverick suddenly pulled out a blade and slashed at Damien. He cried out, but obviously the cut wasn’t too deep because he punched her in the face. She screamed at him, while Joey waited for them to finish. Suddenly Damien took off, with Maverick on his heels. Her words were clear. “Get back here! I’ll eat you for breakfast!” She screamed some profanities as well, but Damien ignored her and kept running. Joey looked at Tiago and Zoe, waved, and took off after them.
The pair from District 4 finally had a chance to rest. They observed the area around them. They hadn’t noticed before, but they could see the silhouettes of the other tributes all around them in the morning light. Some were clear; others were too far off to even tell the gender. Now that they were stopped, Tiago realized the growing need for food and water. If those two things were non-existent in this arena, the Games would be very boring, most tributes dying of hunger or dehydration.
Zoe nudged him and jerked her head to the right. Tiago looked and saw two tributes fighting. It looked to be two girls. One of them was on top the other, strangling her. The one on top was only big enough to be two people: Tyra from 10 or Ella from 2. And since Ella was dead, Tiago concluded that it was Tyra who was winning the fight. But the girl on bottom wasn’t giving up. She was struggling for all she was worth. She bit at Tyra’s hands and tried to throw her off, but eventually she grew still. A cannon fired, and Tyra stood up. Another silhouette was running towards her though, and she had to run. This silhouette had managed to get around the six Careers at the bloodbath and had a deadly looking sword in his hands. Tyra seemed to have nothing.
Tiago and Zoe lost interest and went looking for food and water. Zoe took down two lizards and a jackrabbit with her throwing knives, so at least they had food. The day slowly turned into night, and the anthem came. Ella came first, followed by Holly from 6. Mikey from 7 was next, then Leo. Deborah from 11 closed out Day 2’s deaths. Fifteen deaths and it was only the second day in the arena. These Games were going by very quickly.
The next morning, Tiago couldn’t do basic stuff without immense pain surging through his head. He started seeing things. Dehydration was setting in. Zoe was confused and couldn’t make decisions. At one point she tried to eat the sand. Tiago had to stop her before she did that. Tiago’s head suddenly cleared. A memory came rushing in. When he was little, he used to dig in the ground. He’d always come upon water when he dug deep enough.
When Tiago opened his eyes, he was on the ground. Zoe was wandering around in circles. Tiago tried to tell her about his memory, but all that came out was a croak. He tried again. It came out clear but she didn’t answer. Tiago decided to dig himself. He dug and dug, but the sand seemed endless. When he came upon water, he didn’t even realize. He just kept on digging. Tiago heard a thump beside him, and saw that Zoe had passed out a few feet away. This snapped him into reality and he realized he had found water. It was dirty, but it was water. He stuck his face into his small puddle and guzzled the water. He had nothing to purify it with, so he just hoped that he wouldn’t get sick. Once he had quenched his thirst, he dragged the unconscious Zoe over to the water hole. He used his hands as a cup and gave Zoe water. He had to dig deeper occasionally when there wasn’t enough left.
Zoe woke up after about an hour. “Y-you found water,” she stuttered.
“No kidding,” replied Tiago sarcastically. “You didn’t miss anything though. Nobody’s died today.
“We’ve got company,” said Zoe. Tiago followed her gaze to a pair of tributes who he had no doubt were Maverick and Joey. He guessed Damien had gotten away.
They stood up and started walking away from Joey and Maverick. During their trek, two cannons fired. Tiago guessed some people didn’t figure out that water was underground, and didn’t have sponsors to help them out. They observed some silhouettes that were digging, obviously having figured out the only water source in the arena. Other people started to catch on, and soon almost everyone was digging. Maverick and Joey continued to tail Tiago and Zoe. Maverick’s long brown hair had come undone from its tight bun, and was flowing out behind her.
The day ended, and the faces the cannons belonged to were Jonathan from 3 and Kyle from 9.
“Audience is going to want blood, probably only dehydration deaths today. We would’ve been up there too if you hadn’t had the idea to dig. We should be prepared to be driven to some other tributes. Probably Joey and Maverick,” said Zoe.
Tiago agreed. They decided to eat the rest of their jackrabbit and dig another water hole. Joey and Maverick were digging and eating too, so the pair from 4 had a break for a while. Joey and Maverick went to sleep, allowing Tiago and Zoe to sleep as well.
Tiago woke to the sound of trumpets. Claudius Templesmith’s drowned all other sounds. “Attention tributes! There will be a feast at the Cornucopia tomorrow morning. All tributes are encouraged to come. We plan to be very generous. That is all.”
“Should we go?” asked Zoe. “I’m getting pretty hungry. Lizards don’t fill you up very well.”
“Let’s see what everyone else is doing. We can see them.” Zoe agreed and they watched the silhouettes. Tiago counted who was left. Joey and Maverick, him and Zoe, Damien, and Tyra. He knew there was one more, but he couldn’t place him or her. Seven left. He decided to look at the silhouettes to see if he could find the last tribute. He saw Tyra already making her way towards the Cornucopia, Joey and Maverick had turned around and started to go in the direction of the feast, and he spotted Damien’s blurry figure walking to the Cornucopia. He barely saw a petite girl making her way to the Cornucopia. It was Dora from 9! She was only thirteen years old. It was a wonder she was still alive.
Tiago made a decision. “Everyone else is going, we should too, or they’re going to make us,” he said bluntly. Zoe seemed to think the same, so they started walking. They walked and jogged through the entire day and some of the night before they made it to the Cornucopia. Everyone else was already there.
They all waited for the feast to begin, knowing that it could kill many people. Since everyone was here, the Games could very well end. At the crack of dawn, a table rose out of the ground. One plate was placed in the exact middle of the table, and on the plate was one meatball.
At the sight of the meatball, everyone charged at each other, forgetting the scrap of food altogether. Dora held her ground, but Tyra dove in and tackled Maverick. Tyra snapped her neck in a matter of seconds. Before Joey could do anything, Tiago threw his spear and hit him in the side, burying the spearhead into his flesh. Tyra grabbed the meatball and tried to get away, but Damien was there. He shoved his tomahawk into her stomach and kicked her to the floor. Cannons fired, and everyone was confused. There were only two cannons, so someone must’ve survived their attacks. Tyra. She struggled to crawl away, only to die a few moments later. Dora was running away, but Damien caught her with an admirable throw with his tomahawk. It sunk into the back of her head. She fell to the ground and lay still. Her cannon fired seconds after Tyra’s.
It was a miracle Zoe and Tiago were still alive, and that Joey had actually died from the spear to the side. Tiago looked at his body and saw a throwing knife sticking out of the side of his head. Zoe must have thrown it to finish him off.
Damien was upon them with a dagger. He took out Zoe with a well-timed stab to the chest. He had punctured something vital, Tiago was sure of it. Pain and grief filled Tiago when Zoe’s cannon fired, but also vengeance. He broke Damien’s leg with his bo, causing him to crumple. Tiago stomped on Damien’s face, wanting him to experience as much pain as possible. He swung his bo into Damien’s temple, then shoved it into his throat. Tiago felt things break. Damien made disgusting choking sounds, but Tiago didn’t care. He continued to beat the crap out of Damien until the cannon fired.
Trumpets blared and a hovercraft appeared. “Ladies and gentlemen, the victor of the Thirty-Second Annual Hunger Games! I present you Tiago Greene of District Four!” A ladder hung down for Tiago to grab on to. He took one last look at Damien’s mangled and bloody face, and at Zoe’s body. He longed for her to still be with him, but he had known that both of them couldn’t make it out from the start.
Tiago held on to the ladder as it pulled him up, and looked at the arena for the last time. “Goodbye, Zoe.”
